Quilts of Valor is a wonderful group that awards quilts to service members and veterans touched by war. I've supported the group through the years and today I'm so honored to share this easy to sew Stars and Stripes project and perhaps encourage you to make a Quilt of Valor for a service man or woman. The throw finishes at 68″ x 74″.

To make the Stars & Stripes Forever Quilt Pattern: Download and cut out star pattern. Iron fusible webbing to wrong side of blue fabric and trace star 59 times on paper side of fusible webbing. Cut out stars and remove paper backing. Cut six to eight 41/2-inch squares from each plaid fabric, for a total of 59 squares.

Always on the lookout for easy patriotic quilt patterns, this one I call Stars Stripes Quilt. (Be sure to check out Carol's linked Pinterest page in her post! -ed.) These cuts make a 12″ block using 4-patches, flying geese and squares. I chose to make a 16″ block and use strip piecing. This makes a quilt about 64″ x 80″ finished.

Your quilt top is complete. Baste, quilt, bind and enjoy! Step 16: Center and pin one Fabric F side outer border to the quilt top. Sew the border, starting and stopping 1/4" from each end of the quilt top. Repeat with the remaining side outer border. Repeat with the top and bottom borders. Note: borders will extend beyond the quilt's edge.
